Currently in the process of upgrading my entire system and decided to go AM2. I can't afford to go FX, but I have my eyes on this:

Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Windsor 2.0GHz 2 x 1MB

a couple of questions for anyone that has experience with this series of CPUs...

How does it overclock?
Is the 1mb L2 Cache worth it? (as far as gaming goes)
Better to go 4600+ with 512kb L2 instead?
How will it do with a Geforce 7950GX2?
AM2 set for the future?

Thanks.

My 4000+ is currently at 2.6Ghz and I'm sure I could get 2.8 if I dropped my RAM to 533(CPU/7.5).

I just created a spreadsheet that will help overclock the 4000+ and probably the 3800+. I don't know how well it will apply to you, but it works great for the gigabyte board i use. If you want it, email me at raevenzero@gmail.com and I'll send it back to you.
