MY 4 yr old dell MB just fried today. I am building a new PC anyways but I would like to have this dell up and running again. It is a Socket 478 Celeron 2.4 ghz and i was wondering if I could get an AMD mobo and a CPU and if all the other compononets would work fine with the AMD mobo and CPU.
Or do I just need to buy intel socket 478 mobo?

Your 4 year old Dell is going to have a Dell only PSU in it, that will fry a normal motherboard that plugged into it. You will need to replace the PSU as well.

That motherboard I posted above is micro atx and with your system specs it should work okay.

Again, I'd like to get some intel guys to drop a comment or to just so I dont inadvertently give you bad advice.

EDIT:
or just go with mpilchfamily's advice.
