X1900GT OR X1800XT (No Gaming At 1600x1200)

Just what do you plan on doing with the card? If the answer is gaming, then even if you don't think 16x12 or AA/AF is important, it is still an indication of the cards 3D power. The X1800XT is the more powerful card, which someday you may be thankful for.

If you can't use a dual slot cooler in your case, then the X1900GT is the card for you. If you want the hot GPU air vented directly out of the case and not circulated within the case, then the X1800XT is the card for you.

Here you will see a 256MB X1800XT beat a X1900GT in basically everything.

X1800XT performs better in most benchmarks.

BTW, both cards can probably max out at 16x12 , with maxed out AA/AF, and get playable framerates. Altough 16x12 might be a strech for a single card if you want to max out everything.

Ditto on the comments above.

If you don't plan on getting another video card for another 2-3 years and if you can wait for the mail-in-rebate, I'd get the MSI X1900XT for 70 dollars more than the X1800XT.

It's the best bang for the buck currently out there. Even though you don't want to play at 16x12, for the extra 70 bucks, it's well worth it and you wouldn't have to upgrade the card anytime soon.

Now, if you do plan on getting a DX10 card next year, then save the 80 bucks and get the X1800XT.

The purchase has to be made by 8/31.
