Was planning to upgrade but seeing I have a HP with operating system formatted on it, i dont see any way for a novice to get around this, so I am practically going to have to build a new system , minus the ram and monitor.

I was concerned about the compatability of the PSU with the motherboard , I wasnt sure how to read that tech stuff.

If anyone see's any cost cutting effecient without skimping to much more please let me know, I would like to order this tomorrow.

I plan on using a cheap PCI card until I can scrounge the money for the card I want , which is the 7600 gt.

The grand total was $ 500 inc shipping

I was still playing around with the idea of amd2 system but i'm hoping this upgrade will last me 3 yrs at least...for those who didnt see my post earlier , I was plauged by a AGP card in my HP pent 4 3.0 ghz....Im hoping the new board with pciE will be all that I need to see improvements in game performance

Thank You

Special thank you to Jaguarskx for all his time and knowledge

yeah, go with the 3700+. much better CPU in my humble op.
all looks fine tho. i dont think ur going to need a floppy tho...

also there is a program which will tell u the CD key for ur build. u type in the stickers numbers on the case and it gives u the code to unlock it... its handy and legal.

cough*

u could torrent XP if u have a valid code then technically ur not stealing.

the ELUA states u dont own the software or the CD but the right to use it. a licence if u will. so if u own the machine with the windows verification sticker on it u have ur own licence to install it on that PC.so if u torrented it (not that i would suggest such a thing) ur key code would work on it. im geussing they gave u a key with the HD??

yeah the PSU and case are fine. ur all set.

If possible i would change 939 to AM2. They cost same and not much performance difference, but can upgrade later.

I have heard that PSUs from PCs like HP or DELL can damage off-the-shelf mobos and are incompatible.
