You forgot the best MB out there. The Intel D976XBXLRK - bad axe. It's a bit of a bitch to OC, but it is solid, always quality, and will last as long as your system. Something you can't always say for Asus, GigaByte, or Abit. (This is gonna get me some comments back...)
Everybody downplays Intel's boards and chips (we were all AMD guys before Conroe weren't we), and they used to be right, but Intel's got the best 975X series MB out right now for Conroe. When you read the impartial reviews, they all note that it's not the best OC'er, but it's the most solid performer at std clock. Most people don't OC. heck, this isn't the OC MB forum. In six months, we'll see, but right now there is no better than the bad axe. Oh, it is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
My Rig:
Core 2 Duo X6800 Conroe (Stock Clock for now)
Intel D975XBXLRK - 304
Thermaltake Big Typhoon HSF
2 GB Corsair Pro PC6400 4-4-4-15
ATI X1900XTX
74GB 10K Raptor HD
Soundblaster Audigy 2 SZ
NEC OEM DVD Burners (x2)
Gigabyte 3D Aurora Case
Ultra X-Finity 600W SLi Certified PSU
Well, here is the cheapo, ECS P965-A (79.99 @ newegg after rebate). Reviews are almost uniformly excellent and the only bad one was a guy couldn't get his 7950 video card to work with it, which it won't. I am building a system right now with a 6700 CorewDuo and this board with Kingston value ram (2GB dual DDR) and X1900XT video card for less than 700.00 with 2 SATA HD's and all the good stuff. ECS has made decent bds for a long time now, and while they may not be topped out, they are inexpensive and do what they are supposed to do.
I use the ASUS P5W DH-Deluxe. Not had any problems with it though cpu is running at stock 2.4GHz but i have over clocked my Corsair PC5300C4 DDR2 to 800. I did have to increase the memory voltage to around 1.95V and its runs very stable. No crashes and both cpu and MB runs very cool.
