saving to disc error

trying to save excel file to 3.5 floppy and the message

cannot save the file. the location you want to save to is
write procted

does anyone know how to fix this?

Can you save other files, such as a small text file in Notepad, to this
floppy?
Can you save your Excel file elsewhere?

Check the floppy to make sure the little "tab" is not in the write protection
slot.

Check to see if you can format the floppy also (after copying it's contents
to your hard drive)

I have very little faith in the floppy disks anymore, so i would otherwise
suggest trying another means of transfer (email works great, just email the
file to yourself) or a thumb drive.
