I just got my ATI X800 XT, and I love it. Switching from Nvidia to ATI was a painless process, and the performance difference between this and my old BFG 6600GT is like night and day.
It's certain to extend my AGP time given that I have a decent system otherwise.
Ah, man, and 7600GT AGP just became available too. Just kidding with you. I have the same card and am very pleased with it. For the money, it offers good gaming performance and a treat of extra goodies. I have always like the AIW's. Enjoy your new card.
Dshazz.
Nice card.
I have the 800 gto.
A few weeks ago I thought my video card was going down cause of motherboard, so I ordered the x850xt 256 meg pci-e card.
To make a long story short, it ended up being a bad pci-e slot on my msi neo 4 platinum ultra.
So now with a new Dfi lanparty board, the new 850xt flys
and I will be keeping my old 800 gto card as a backup.
It's a fast card for the money.
My max is 555/570 (without artifacts)
Memory can go even to 620 (but beyond 580 very small artifacts appear)
What a volt mod would do?? Probably 600Mhz on the GPU. I have a Arctic Freezer 64 on the GPU . Keeps it to 43C under full load. One end sits on the GPU and the other on the bottom of my case.
Those aftermarket GPU coolers cant go below 55C
That has to be the biggest heatsink I've ever seen! Wow!
The x800xt is a great card. I love it, even though I bought mine back when they were a lot of money. I can only oc to 545/545. 550 will crash or artifact a little. It's rare, but I hate when the computer crashes in the middle of a game and it's not like I'm going to notice the extra 5mhz anyway so I keep it just a little lower.
I actualy bought that hsf cos its eaven cheaper than other gpu hsfs and cos its big and I dont need the PCI slots.
I'll keep it when I upgrade and it can come good if I volt mode.
Maybe you could push you memory a bit further by putting some cooling on it. I bought the little chipset coolers from coolermaster they are very cheap and I put 2 on the mosfets and the other 8 on the memory.
great great card. I picked up the Platinum Edition from Sapphire last April.
Faultless performance. I went from a 9800 Pro to this. Certainly saved me from upgrading the whole machine.
yet to OC this card tho but might give it a go now
I just ordered an ati x800xt aiw from ati 3 weeks ago on the trade up program and I haven't received it yet. I can't wait.
What kind of settings are you using for most games?
Usually I run at 1280x1024 with high quality settings. Sometimes I don't crank every setting up all the way, because they can hinder performance and plus, I don't notice much of a difference visually.
I believe I have FEAR running at 1024x768. 1280x1024 isn't an option in that game for me.
But yes, you'll be very happy with your purchase. Best of luck.
