This is the "non-biased" version of the article THG posted today in their frontpage:

By the fourth quarter of this year, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and ATI Technologies will jointly launch a new notebook platform, currently codenamed Yokohama, that utilizes AMD's Turion 64 X2 processors and ATI's future chipsets, which are currently known as the RS690M, RS690DC and RS790M, according to sources at Taiwan-based notebook makers familiar with ATI's latest roadmap.

I'd like to see a good chipset solution for AMD's upcoming Bulldozer processor. That would be killer.

Ah, so you did post it. I'll give you my comment on it that I made in by ATI Intel Chipset thread.

AMD/ATI's Yokohama platform is going to use the RS690M. Really, it's not that big a deal since ATI would have released the RS690M anyways just that with the acquisition AMD can decide to brand it. The reason why I'm bringing this up is that the RS690M is the AMD version of the RS600M that ATI just launched for Intel. The major difference is no need for a memory controller. In other words, if you want to try out AMD's next Yokohama platform, get the Xpress 1250 for Intel notebooks.

this platform will more than likely be somewhat "thrown together". just because AMD and ATI have only been working together exclusively for such a short time. more than likely what will happen is technology that was to be released anyways will be bundled together and branded a platform just to compete with centrino.

not to say it won't be good, I'm sure it will be a decent platform, but I doubt it'll compete well with centrino yet.

Hey, wait a minute -- I thought I saw 2 9-inch posts this evening, did the other one already get deleted before we could get started :?: :?: :?:

:?: :!:
Dunno. I only saw the one. I was kind of worried. Usually 9 inch has already posted his quota of 3 for the day by this time.

Must have been a slow day for AMD propaganda

Peace

Deleted or moved.

It was linked to some Epoch Times article. It talked about how much trouble intel was in, because AMD is doing so great with Dell and IBM contracts, etc. Oh, and it even touched the anti-trust suit at the end of the article.

I'm sure it was an opinion of the writer, since there was no talk about Core 2 Duo or even the new Xeon CPUs, and it was dated 29 August.

Hrm... :?

Yeah it was deleted, I now remember the jist of it. He quoted something about 'I wonder of woodcrest is included in this' referring to a bolded statement, again demonstrating supreme ignorance the MP refers to >2 sockets.

Yup, that was it.

I read the article, and it mentioned no Intel products, just how AMD is doing wonderfully with it's deal with Dell and IBM, and how it's Opteron CPUs are the doing great in both performance and energy consumption, which it claimed a Financial Times story wrote. Of course, they didn't link the story.

It was almost like reading someone's blog.

*edit*

Why can't I spell Opteron correctly the first time?!?
