Got me a Antec SP-500 Smartpower 2.0 PSU today. On the cable that ends in the 4-pin (2x2) +12V connector, there is another connector with 8 pins (4x2) that isn't mentioned in the manual. Anyone know what that is?

Some of the newer motherboards ASUS in particular have this 8 pin connector instead of just the square 4 pin that plugs into the motherboard by the CPU. It is mainly for workstation and serverboards and dual core cpu's. It started with PSU ATX12V v2.2 & EPS 12V v2.1 I believe. Check your PSU box or documentation and see if yopu find those standards there. :D

Yes indeed 4x2 ( 8pin ) connectors are EPS12V connectors for server and workstation boards.

The EPS12V connector is the one to the left of the 24pin ATX connector:

The SP-500 is not supposed to be EPS12 but ya never know.

There are very few MBs that suport the double "P4" connectors.

My P5N32 SLI deluxe SE is one MB.... that NEEDS the double P4 connectors. (and its not a server MB)

You can see just below my Swiftec Storm WB there is the NEED for the additional POWER.

My MB wont even post without a 500 wat PSU....

(I do run SLI 7900GTX + 4 Raptors 2 15v Water pumps 28 Hi speed Pan flos etc etc etc)

All new DFI boards must have a PSU with this plug.
