"The E6600 unlocked down with the new BIOS and allowed a new range of FSB adjustments of 405x9 (stock), 460x8, 495x7, and 495x6. Below is a screen capture at 495x7 or 3.465GHz."

I'm new to all this overclocking and am in the process of building a computer. I'd like to build a E6600 computer and overclock it. If I understand all of this correctly, wouldn't I be able to get 3.6ghz with a 400fsb and 9 multiplier? The website made it sound simple to easily oc into the 3ghz, so how come I don't see a bunch of posts bragging about people with 3.6ghz e6600s?

Well... how many people have an e6600?
=P

Also most those who are good with OC'ing wouldn't brag about a 3.6 if it was easy.
They'd brag about 4+

the e6600 at stock is as fast as the fx62, the fastest cpu a month or two back, some people buy the cpu and then well its fast enough as it is and they might only overclock when it seems to get too slow for them, perhaps half a year after they got it they might overclock. fair enough if they got a e6300/e6400 they probably would overclock as theyre cheaper and not so fast as the e6600. or maybe no one has engough money for conroe

....even though they're really cheap for first generation

well I dont even know how fast my 6600 was at stock speed. When everything was in place, i went into the bios of my 975xbx and cranked the fsb to 1333mhz. So its running at 3 ghz.

Id assume that it'd be pretty easy to get it to 3.6, as i plan to do so, pending you have good cooling and are willing to bump up the core voltage a bit.

Im sticking at 3.05 ghz now because I dont really need anything faster, and I want, if at all possible, to stay at stock voltage.
