Hellow fellow citizens,

A memory question:

I have 4 x 512 mb kingston pc 5300 667 on my Intel 975XBX.
When i set my mem in the bios to 3-3-3-8 the system wont boot whereas on 4-4-4-12 and 5-5-5-15 it will boot.

Could it be a voltage issue? I tried most voltages but it doesnt really help.

I don't really understand why this is. Can anyone help me with some answer?

Great thanks,

Pat.

CAS5

so 5-5-5-15

I can get it to 3-3-3-8 in 533 mode but I really want it to 3-3-3-8 in 667 mode. Why won't it boot on 3-3-3-8 in 667 while it does on 533?

You have just answered your own question you are technically trying to overclock your memory. Memory will only go so fast before it tops out and will not go any faster, you my friend have reached that point and a big red barrier has just surrounded you saying access denied.

Oh and you could get it working with a voltage tweak but it would need a big one I would guess and even then the chances of it running at all let alone stably are slim to non.
