So basically, if you are selling something online next year and the IRS gets its way then you now have to file it on your taxes. The very idea of a third party taxing you for something that they have no part in makes my blood boil, but now its come to this. The IRS can kiss it if they think I'm going to report it.
Aww, stop your bitchin', you infected bum banger.
Careful... He's passed the HIVee's stage so you might get infected...
*Puts human condom over infected NOOB*
Ahh the Other has Aids! It wasn't even from wingy either.
We've all had the HIVee's for a while now (Thanks Wingy) but now we have full blown AIDS... Not even Mugz can save us now...
Or can he??
Let's all pray to his Holiness.

Congratulations, you managed a sub-par reply in only a matter of minutes to my posting. My name, also my gamer tag, does not need to be subject to criticism when there exist names such as: Auburn9698. How generic can one be? Oh let me guess, you're going to Auburn, right? Or maybe you are a fan of the schools football team. Oh real intuitive. Lets not forget the classic lvdax. I don't even know what the hell that means, it suggests that you should probably retire from life. Moving on, i was simply starting a bitching thread about the government and, apparently, everyone seems to either agree or not give a damn making this even worse.
I don't know what your complaint is. If you sell something, you are supposed to report it as income, even if you don't get a w-2 or 1099. All they're doing is takng the 'trust' factor away from you. Based on the fact that you're bitching, you've likely been avoiding taxes that you should have been paying, thereby proving that they cannot trust you. And I bet you bitch when they raise taxes too, don't you?
Now, read the stickies.
Fcuk off and pay your taxes so they don't raise them further for everyone else because of you and your ilk.
Mike.
I'm curious how "Aids" is somehow a superior name to the likes of "Auburn9698" or "lvdax"?
I don't think any name is cool... you have to remember that you are on an online forum, boasting about a GAMER TAG.
Each persons online tag has meaning, why does the fact that Auburn goes/went to Auburn make his reasoning "generic" when your name is simply "Aids." Not very hard to figure that one out. Even mine has more complexity... I would explain it to you, but you probably don't even know who Sigmund Freud is.
Pay your taxes without fail...
Or you'll end up in jail..
'Cause I spent your bail.
Absolutely stunning. Write one for me.
Sorry. Tax season is over. No need to come up with any more ditties.
Write one about my new memory that is on the way, if you didn't buy it all out...
You do know what "Geil" means in slang German dont you?
No, enlighten the Kweyol Ninja please.

I would add on to what Tool stated before but... well... i think that stated it all. Anything else would just bash the fact that you expected us to care about what or who you are... Best of luck and pay your taxes...
Geil basically means "horny" or "lust-seeking."
@lvdax: Glad I could represent you well.
What's with all these new fucktards lately? Aids and Sypher, both completely mental, like what's his nuts used to be... Piddy...

Wow.....overreact much? Read the stickies and take some Ex-Lax. Your name/gamer tag (

Please explain to me why people who trade via online sites should be exempt from taxation, whereas those that trade through, for example, a shop should not be? Does that sound fair to you?
As an honest taxpayer, I applaud any attempts to stop the thieving twats who think Ebay is a way to bypass paying their share of tax. I assume your objection is because you are one of these tax evaders?

In most countries employers deduct part of your salary under "Pay As You Earn" schemes and pass it onto the tax authorities on your behalf.
Most people are smart enough to realise that this is a good thing - it reduces evasion and means people with simple tax affairs don't need to complete a return.

You set the tone with your sub-par, poorly thought-out original posting.
Go and do some basic reading on macro-economics and tax collection systems and come back when you have something intelligent to contribute.
I doubt we'll see you again.

What a deadly idea... if you sell something, and you receive income from it, you pay a tax on it... how totally Un-American.
Internet or not, income is income. You can't argue that point. Just pay the damn tax. If its the forms that you have so much trouble with,

My original point, setting aside the name calling, is how exactly did it come to someone stepping in and charging us (Americans or anyone else for that matter) for labor that they took no part in. Forget about "how its always been or just do it". Think about this logically for a second. You trade your labor for money with your employer. He can always pay you less or more depending on his wishes. That is HIS decision based on his financial situation and how much money he thinks you deserve. The government, on the other hand, steps in and decides that they need to take various amounts of money away based on how much we the people make. How exactly is this right? Gas excise tax pays for the roads and property tax pays for the schools. But your labor tax goes right into the pockets of politicians who can pass more laws to take more money away from you. And yes ninja, the forms are RIDICULOUSLY difficult to figure out. Which makes little to no sense because if they made it more simple they would have less problems with people not putting the right amount down. Speaking of problems, why bother coming to this thread complaining about the thread itself. If you don't like it move the hell on. Its a rather novel concept and is generally practiced by most people. So, how can you complain about me complaining when you are contributing to it yourselves?
@tool_462. Wow, you still never cease to amaze me. I love it how you can manage a simple retort, while questioning my intelligence at the same time. Well mr. "tool_462" or can i call you TOOL? It would appear to me that if you don't think any name is cool then you probably consider your name flat out ridiculous. My name is pretty shitty and unoriginal i'll give it that, but at least it has the bling factor to it. You know, it leaves people asking questions when they see it. "does he have Aids... should i make fun of him?" "why would he make a name like that?". All your name suggests is that you are a tool and 461 other people were tools before you so you had no choice but to add those numbers.
Edit: Ninja, that entire thing wasn't directed at you which i'm sure you can very well assume. I just replied to your post because it was the last one i read.
Oh by the way, sorry if i come off a little insane/anti-whatever-the-hell-you-want-to-call-me but i just get so sick and tired of taxes. If you don't agree with me, thats completely ok, just please try not to attack me and ignore these posts. If I'm not jumped at i won't jump back. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way about this as i do.

Aye aye sir!
@Aids
This is the Other. Your argument better be top notch if you wish to peddle your thoughts down here. We are the Devils advocates. Is that a fair enough warning? We get endless posters here pushing agendas with the debating skills of a failed 4th grader.
Well, my arguments are simply logical thinking scribbled down on multiple sheets of paper. If, by any chance, someone decides to challenge me (in a friendly way) I'm definitely up for a good debate. However, attack me and my personal beliefs and I'll be damned if i won't do the same to whoever does it. I understand people come down here just to get a rise out of "the others" heh, and I've seen even worse argument skills in some of the "fanboy wars" upstairs. This was not my intent AT ALL and i hope it wasn't mistaken for it.
Most people down here are pretty 'civilized' under normal circumstances.
At least, circumstances defined as 'normal' for down here...
In any case. Taxes unfortunately are a part of life, and in some cases are quite necessary (within reason).
Vehicle tax, for example. Used to pay for roads, repairs to roads, and so on. It can be argued that the expenses in maintaining a road network can be met by fines - and then all of a sudden everyone decides to become anal-retentively law abiding? Uh-oh...
Where the shit comes in is when people in government write themselves huge paychecks and perks.
Taxes are supposed to pay for maintaining a country and all services provided therein. This, at least, is the theory.
Discuss.
Theoretically you are 100% correct. Unfortunately that is not the case at all. The original idea of taxes, as you stated, was for the country to be maintained on. What we have now is "gouging" if you will. They can charge more and more money because, quite frankly, we have no choice but to pay it. Making themselves more money. Taxes initially were going to be voluntary and it was up to the people to give based on how much they made and could afford. Ideally, if everyone were honest enough, that would be perfect. People would give because they wanted to, not because they were forced to. And local communities would be supported by themselves, not having to rely on a bigger and more powerful government. Unfortunately this is not the case at all. The government is a big bully and people, for the most part, suck and do all they can to cheat everyone as much as possible. Which leads me to believe that the system almost HAS to be the way it is just because of how messed up society has become.
The concept of the city-state seemed to have been the most stable form of government.
Today's administrations are top-heavy, bureaucratic and incredibly inefficient, corruption notwithstanding. Even if you took the corruption out, the cost of maintaining a country the size of e.g. the USA is incredibly high. Maintaining 50-odd individual smaller states will have a lower total cost, thus, a lower tax overhead, since a fair segment of the adminstration will have been made redundant by such a fragmentation.
Exactly! The idea of small communes within a larger country would not only be cheaper, but it would be more efficient for laws to be made based on area, and different situations that each commune has. Decisions made by the people for the people, the original idea right? Well, I'm glad you at least see it the way i see it in terms of whats "better" for this country.
That system also makes it easier to deal with cultural issues, among other advantages.
Actually, every country should implement a sane system like that. I don't harbour any special feelings (in either direction) towards America, since I actually hail from South Africa. My perspective, on the other hand, is very global.
Cultural issues being a VERY major item that would be cleared up almost immediately. The only disadvantage, and every idea that will ever exist has this disadvantage, is sheer human nature. Dishonesty, stealing etc... Those fundamental flaws are the reason things like this could never work. The educated and understanding members of society know that it could work if there were more people like themselves, but not everyone thinks like that. Some people feel that they would rather steal than pay, others have power and feel the need to take advantage. Setting that aside, idealistically, that system we speak of would be a global problem solver in a lot of aspects.
What most of you are saying:
"Just stop bitching and pay up."
What that translates to:
"I consider myself a free American, but Im to much of a bitch to maintain my freedom by not letting the government do as they please."
I'll give you all the benifit of the doubt for now, and just asume you haven't given it much thought.
The problem with all that is that they are starting to tax things rediculously, for instance, auctions are taxed now, how rediculous is that? What is next? IRS at your yard sales? Did you know its illegal to buy grocieries in another state and bring them back without paying your states taxes for them? But there is no way to even do that to my knowledge, but if your caught, you can bet your ass they will fine you. I'll also bet that almost noone here has yet to have commited a felony, I know I have, but we just havent been caught. And its not even something we did wrong! People tend to forget there is a difference between moral and legal. I dont know about you guys, but I am not one to consider if somethings legal or not, only moral.
Back to taxes, I dont mind things being taxed once, but when things get taxed every time they change hands, I get mad. Did you know that your inheritance from a relative (who already earned and payed taxes for that income) is taxed? Also, students are charged for school meals not only when purchased, but the government bought that food with YOUR MONEY!!! Now its true that those funds go to the school, but you shouldn't be paying for it twice when that shcool should be getting the money from your taxes, instead congressmen give themselves perks with that money. And lets not forgett the inability for the government to make a decent budget. Thousands die everyday from lack of medical care (because they aren't rich) but the government spends unknown millions on stupid assed shit like "highway beautification", or on flowers in other words.
Things get taxed when they are raw materials, imported, again when produced, stocked, again when sold to wholesalers, again when sold to stores, and agian when we buy them, and I garauntee less than 30% of that money goes to benifit you or me, in any way. Taxes are supposed to help our countries infrastructure, not pay polititions (directly or indirectly, ala' Oil companys etc.) Gas taxes alone pay for our highways, schools barely get any of your income taxes, and if you dont pay up on EVERY little tax (some you probably aren't even aware of) you have commited a felony.
Isaac Asimov had a nice bit on taxation in Forward the Foundation, I think it was.
Personally, though, I'm waiting for society to completely collapse under its own weight. It's already happening, by the bye...

Did you read my post? Apparently not...
I'm glad I amaze you every time I reply, and the fact that I "still" never cease to amaze you makes me wonder how long you have been watching me?
I honestly don't think "Aids" has any "bling factor." My gamer tag is usually 46 & 2 or Forty6 & 2. It brings plenty of questions and "Yeah Tool rocks!" responses. In case you didn't know, but you are so smart so I'm sure you already did, 46 and 2 is referencing...
The title references an idea first conceived by Drunvalo Melchizadek concerning the possibility of reaching a state of evolution where the body would have two more than the normal 46 total chromosomes and leave a currently disharmonious state [1] The premise is that humans would deviate from the current state of human DNA which contains 44 autosome and 2 sex chromosomes, and the next step of evolution would likely have 46 and 2 chromosomes in their DNA.
Furthermore, the song references a wish to experience change through the "shadow"; an idea which represents the parts of one's personality that one hates and fears, which also exists as a recurring theme in the work of Carl Jung. Along with this is the idea behind the anima/animus influences on human behavior. Again referencing the album title, the anima/animus is believed to be the subconscious influence on the dream patterns of human beings.
And...
The major underlying principles relate to chromosomes, (Carl) Jungian theory, and the teachings of Drunvalo Melchizadek. I have read extensively about these topics because TOOL is my favourite band.
i shall attempt to explain. nobody usually asks when i drop obscure references like that. they just assume it's a "pinder thing" and move on. most of the long version is culled from faq's online.
SHORT VERSION
Shadow:
Carl Jung called "the shadow" a dark space in our psyche that all of us have but none of us like to admit is there.
Meaning of 46 and 2:
There are 3 different kinds of humans on the Earth, meaning that they perceive reality in three different ways:
42 and 2
44 and 2
46 and 2
the numbers refer to chromosome composition, double helix, DNA.
42 and 2 comprise a unity consciousness that does not see anything outside themselves as being separate from themselves. to them, there is only one energy - one life, one beingness that moves everywhere. Anything happening anywhere is within them, as well. they are like cells in the body. they are all connected to a single consciousness that moves through all of them. tribes in Africa are like this.
44 and 2: this is us. a disharmonic level of consciousness. how else can you explain George Bush? its a stepping stone from the current level to the next level...
46 and 2: the next level of human consciousness. all it takes is 2 extra chromosomes.
ok, so the short version wasn't so short.
LONG VERSION
Shadow:
In Carl Jung's personality theory, the ego represents the individual's sense of personal self. The sense of personal identity is purchased, however, at the expense of certain tendencies that are rejected as 'not-self'. According to Jung, these rejected traits come together as a kind of unconscious 'counter-ego' which he termed the shadow. The shadow is the most powerful and potentially the most dangerous. It represents everything about ourselves that we fear and despise.
Meaning of 46 and 2:
According to Drunvalo Melchizadek, our planet is covered with geometrically constructed 'morpho genetic grids'. These grids extend from about 60 feet under the Earth's surface to about 60 miles above the Earth, arranged in geometric patterns. Before any species can come into existance or make an evolutionary step, a new grid must be completed.
A new grid was completed in 1989 - the 'christ-consciousness' grid. This grid will allow humans to evolve into our next version. We'll develop two additional chromosomes (which are really 'geometrical images' designed to resonate with our specific grid) for a total or 46 + 2.
The main change will be a shift to the "unity consciousness". Every cell in your body has its own consciousness and memory. You, the higher being that occupies your body, make the millions of different consciousnesses in your body work together as one being. How does this relate to this grid? Think of yourself as a cell and the grid as the higher being. We will still have individual consciousness, but will be united in the form of a higher being in order to work as one entity
In conclusion, my online name is a little more thought provoking than..."Does he have AIDS? Should I make fun of him?"

Well I can tell you think youself a genius. Too bad your argument is presumptuious enough to think that taxation like the US's is fair in the first place. Basically your doing the equivilant of a slave working hard and bitching about your fellow slaves escaping, thus making your cotton picking quota go up. Open your eyes before your mouth please.
Oh, and try saying something other than twat.
You all consider yourselves patriots, but fail to realize that our current government in the US is FAR more corrupt than the British monarchy was when our forefathers rebelled against it. Do a your part, ignore legality.
So, are you saying that because the people who were elected into these positions in our government choose to waste money, we should rebel and not pay those taxes?
Why do you want to make police departments, the Army/Navy/AF/etc., FTC, CDC, etc. pay (by not giving them the tax income they need to do their jobs of protecting our citizens from criminals, etc.) for something their bosses did. Why not vote those idiots out of office? I'm trying by using my vote where it will do the most good. What are you doing besides griping?
Mike.
Tool fans are usually pompous about they're knowledge. Actually, I did know that, however you are a pseudointellectual typical tool fan who thinks because they listen to Maynard James Keenan's music, they are automatically smarter than everyone else. Now dont get me wrong, I love tool, but damn allot of their fans give them a bad name. I think the idea behind allot of tools music is think for yourself, and all you are doing is copying Maynard's train of thought.
Names mean very little, and certainly have nothing to do with this thread, lets look past that. If you dont have anything to say about the subject at hand, go back to your tool forum and keep feeding off your counter-culture mentality, never realizing that you are sheep, a black sheep, but still one of so many before you. Do what you would do, think for yourself. Its fine to believe something Maynard does, but dont do it just because he does, as you give the impression of.

Im sorry you got the impression all I do is gripe, I never said I dont pay taxes, but your wonderfull vote is going to get you nowhere im afraid. Becuase people are to stupid to vote for anyone other than democrats and republicans (who are corrupt by definintion) your vote isnt going to do shit. I dont vote, why? Not because I dont care, but because the sad truth is that it isnt going to do a damn thing. I do my part by ignoring legality, and would gladly die for the rights and freedom of my friends and family, however not in vein. Sorry, but voting is neither a soluton, nor meaningfull.

Up until the above post you actually had a valid and decent argument. Then you post a bunch of babble about votes not counting. Not to mention the fact that it is obvious that you were ranting instead of actually coming up with a strong argument. My damned pedantic eye tell me this.
Voting does count, it allows us to decide whether or not to approve taxes\laws in which you speak or to deny on a state level Federal taxes\laws that are implemented. Don't make me state all of the Federal taxes\laws that California has decided to not follow over the past two decades.
If you don't like it run for office and be one of those "corrupt" people and make a change. Instead of whining at a bunch of people on a forum, go do something and leave us alone.

Aah, so you actually wanted a history lesson?
I can't be bothered to write an essay right now, so I'll let the UK tax authorities do it for me. Yes, it's a bit rose-tinted, but it gives the basics. Wikipedia and your local library should do the rest.

Stay on topic? Do you know where you are posting? Keep up.
I like the meaning that Maynard portrays in Forty-six and 2. However, I don't hang on his every word like a million fans do, I surely "think for myself and question authority."
I don't care what your initial impression of my knowledge in regards to lyrical interpretation is.
I talked to Billy Howerdel at, of all places, Home Depot last fall. We talked about this very subject, we focused on "The Outsider" but the general principal applies. I told him roughly how I interpreted the song and he said "You are exactly right." I asked what the song meant to him and he explained something very different, ending by saying he also was "exactly right." When he was leaving he thanked me for not drawing attention to him and for a good conversation, he said he was glad there were fans out there that didn't "walk right off that cliff and add to the body count." If you understand what he was saying, more power to you, but if you don't, just forget about it.
I agree that there are a million fans that think they know everything, I have been to many concerts and talked to many people before and after. Frankly, I don't fit in with them. Think what you want, I know I can't change someone's mind who makes such glorious generalizations.
| Quote : Im sorry you got the impression all I do is gripe. |
I'm not sorry. That's all you've done so far.
| Quote : I dont vote. |
Then you're part of the problem.
Do a little math. Get all the losers & idiots (like yourself) who didn't vote in the last presidential election. Count them. If you would all have voted for <insert choice of candidate here - even someone who only got 1 vote> who would be president? It is even easier in local elections - IIRC (no, I'm not going to research it - you are not worth it) turnout in Chicago during the elections earlier this year was somewhere around 22%. That is 22% of REGISTERED voters. Since only about 60% (could be off, but probably not far) of eligible voters are even registered, that means that less than 1 in every 6 eligible voters are really deciding who runs this country.
I blame you for my vote being worthless - you deserve what is happening to this country.
Mike.
So lets get this straight Mike, mind if i call you Mike? Because he does not vote this country's faults and mistakes all fall back on him... correct? Lets not forget that maybe he doesn't see a candidate worth voting for. Here is what really should be on the ballot.
1: Kicked in the nuts
2: Kicked in the face
3: Shot in the *insert humorous location here*
My question to you is, does YOUR vote count? This is the part where you tell me if you didn't vote, and everyone else didn't vote, the country would be chaotic and power would be up to the government. The fact that we can vote gives us a choice of who to put in control etc etc etc... However, we voted for everyone of our presidents over the past x years and look where that has gotten us. Several depressions, many wars that could of been avoided, loss of jobs... shall i continue? Most people in this country need some form of control, there is no denying that. But it really bothers me when people think this "free" country gives us choices. Its basically like when you were younger and your mom wanted you to eat vegetables that you hated. So she would trick you and say "ok, carrots or broccoli" making you think you were in control.
Llama_man, my question was rhetorical and if there is one thing i don't need its a history lesson. I appreciate the info, however, your sarcasm is not appreciated when a serious conversation was beginning to start. Digging through my posts and nitpicking out specific details that you can throw in a witty remark on is not exactly my idea of "a good conversation". If i am mistaken and you simply wanted to enlighten me, let me know.
