It's a very sad happening what happened today and I feel sorry for the people who lost their loved ones. It's again a big shootout just like the other ones some years ago. It will never end will it. :(
On the news in Holland there was a discussion going on why America still keeps on selling weapons to their suvilians (not semi automatic/military ok but still). Some guy who knows a lot about America answered that this is because Americans are in love with guns? They simply love them and it goes from father to son? Is this really true?
I mean look at the gang killing on the streets and all the shootouts in the history of America. You can say to me...ohhhh but those who want harm can still buy a gun if they really want.... well in Holland they can't. Why?
We grew up without guns. Such big shooting accidents don't accure over here. OK, this was a school (and no it was not in Iraq where investigators found that soldiers are killing innocent people over there while knowing what they are doing???)....but look at gang shootouts and stuff. It's totally crazy how can you still love a gun with all this peeeeeeep in the world? pow pow pow....I rather play a game online.

ps: How much money does The American Goverment make in selling guns to their own people and why is it so hard to forbid it. Srry but it sometimes creeps the hell out of me what is going on over there and how this is all possible. Hmmm, maybe I should stop drinking :(

Thank you for your kind explenation as I'm writing this to understand America better and not to get shout at by some peeeeeep. I'm not American you fool....here in holland we don't need a gun/knife or whatever to feel safe? Is this maybe why everybody loves guns over there that are the main cause of many deaths worldwide? Or is it just playing around like Clint Eastwood movies....The wild wild west.

Reply to SyPheR

If you were educated enough to begin a conversation on this topic, you would realize that you are over generalizing and labeling every American citizen simply due to a stereotypical view you have acquired of the country and it's residents.

And for future reference, we (being every single American) absolutely love guns with a passion and will never feel safe unless we know for a fact we have the biggest knife and most powerful gun by our side. /sarcasm

Ignorance my man, ignorance.

lol, I think you listened too much Tool ;) If you think this is a stereotypical view of YOUR country I think you are mistaken (as it also happend in germany less violent though) and still don't understand what I'm asking. I'm asking WHY many americans love guns...And the Tool thingy...hmmm sarcasm...you are pretty good at it but I still don't fall for it srry. ;) Not everyone is as smart as you...there you go I'll make it easy for ya. :)

You weren't asking "why many Americans love guns." You were asking why everyone one of us love guns. Just because American shootings get international press doesn't mean that we love guns more than any other country in the world. I guess when a country is the headline of international news all the time, people start to point fingers.

First, the government does not sell guns, except under the provisions of the CMP ... Civilian Marksmanship Program. These guns are antiquated, worn out, WWII M1 Garands. They are expensive, and sales are limited within the provisions of the CMP. Very few are sold.

All other sales are via commercial dealers or private sales. The govenments only income is via sales tax, just as with any other manufactured item icluding but not limited to automobiles, toaster ovens, kitchen utensils etc.

The exceptions to this are licensing fees for class 3 firearms, FFLs (dealers licences) etc.

I agree with you. A gun is a potentially dangerous machine that when improperly handled, either through deliberate intent or gross incompetance, can injur, maim or kill. But since we are going to eliminate dangerous machines, lets start with the most dangerous...the Automobile. Significantly more people are killed per yer in car accidents in the US than by guns. Along with the ban on cars and guns, there should also be a ban on cell phones which a recent study attributed a 4x greater influence as the root causal factor in automoblie accidents than alcohol. Knives can also be handled improperly and must aslo be banned. Etc etc etc[/sarcasm]

Do you know why automobile accidents don make the news, yet gun related incidents do?

3 reasons.
First, automobile deaths are so common in the US (~120...per day) that they are not "interesting" to the media.
Second, the automobile is an amaerican 'way of life', an icon generally considered as nessecary, so pointing out that the automobile is infinately more deadly than guns is a fact which is convienently ingored
Third, gun ownership is a political issue which influnces the minds of voters...car ownership is above that kind of politcal fighting. Show me a politician campaigning on a platform of "ban the car" and I'll show you someone who would get laughed out of the country. See Ralph Nader

Now, as to why the government 'permits' guns.
Simple, this US was won buy the gun.

US history and the second amendment.....the short version.

In the begining a bunch of fat farmers and religiuos heretics wanted freedom to worship whatever god they choose, and were tired of being taxed to death. They came to america to escape the oppresive government (England) that levied the taxes and enforced religiuos stricture. England started pressing their rule in america further, enforcing the rules the american settlers chose to escape. The settlers revolted. There was a war. Guns were used in the war. The war was won. The United States were formed. The fat farmers and religious heritics became the US's founding fathers. The set out to form a government of the poeple, unlike the monarchy they had escaped...a government of the people, by the people, for the people. Understanding that absolute power corrupts absolutely, they believed the people had a right to retain power in order to keep the government in check. Part of that power was gun ownership.

The other part of that. Our government is .."of the people". Everyone must have equal rights and eqaul power. To allow those in govenernment to possess control over firearms, while denying it to the general populace is to abandone power to them.

To protect the rights of the general populous, and tlimit the power of the elcted officials, thus preventing and one person from gaining to much power, the second amendment was added to the Bill of Rights, ensuring the people the right to keep and bear arms.

Finally, while you all in holland may have no guns, and thus no gun violence, may I point out your bretheren, the swiss, whose army is a militia. With over 700,000 guns throughtout Switzerland, over 300,000 of which are privately owned. How much gun violence do the swiss deal with?Pehaps the Dutch would be better served spending their time dealing with swiss gun violence rather than US.

Heres a fun statistic for you

Doctors more deadly than guns?

Stereotypical Young Preshooled Hardly Educated Retard, (AKA idiot)
Unless you have lived in a country you have NO right to criticize it. I don't criticize another country for its actions, because it is typically a group of individuals that should be criticized not the entire country. You blatantly sit there and make generalizations about "Americans being in love with guns" then you state how would rather play online games. So would you consider playing a FPS is more moral then owning a gun?

I also remember a past post about you never living in the US or visiting the US for an extended period. So that being restated proves that the only education you have of the US and its people are that from books, movies and "some guy" who supposedly know "a lot about America."
So please stop posting here as I'm sure you can tell we are all thru with your shenanigans. If you couldn't tell i just spelled it out for you.

(Let the generalized response begin)

I can see that you are an obvious, glaring example of Holland's liberal drug policies. So, I understand your brain is muddled.

Let us examine your track record, though: first Americans are inherently racist. Next Amercians are inherently gun crazed loonies. In the first instance, I can understand a lack of decorum and manners when broaching the subject of another culture for the first time. But, to do so second time in a same, if not worse, fashion sets you as a nothing more than a Euro-trash provocateur.

I for one, hoped to come here and find a reasonable and-- to the Other's standards-- intelligent discussion concerning this tragedy (as I have freinds and family in and around Blacksburg), but alas, some limp-wristed, linguine spined, no-load, s-for-brains, paplum eating, ass-sucking, pseudo-intellectual, Eurotrash wannabe (talking about you cockbreath) steals the show.

I guess bigotry and ignorance in Holland goes father to son?

I don't usually do this, but I'm going to this time........

Yes in the US we have the right to have guns.......

Contrary to popular belief, in the US not everyone is armed!!!!!! I have no figures to back it up, but I'd bet there are more Americans that don't own guns than do!!!!!!

In my case & Family, I'm the only one that owns guns...... None of my brothers, none of my sons, no one else in the Family has guns...... It's their choice, just like it's my choice.....

Having said that, lets look at the guns I own...... My guns are Family Heirlooms that will be passed from generation to generation..... I have a 32 special that my Great Great Grandfather bought & used in the mid 1800s..... I have a 12 gage pump shotgun that my Father & I hunted pheasants with that dates back to the early 50s........ I have 4 22s that I taught my Sons how to shoot with & proper gun safety..... I have 3 pellet guns I shot with my sons before they were able to take on a firearm..... I'm getting ready to add a new gun to my collection for my 6 year old Grandson....... I also have 2 machetes that I bought in Honduras in 90...... one of them being a fighting machete........ All of these are in my gun safe, locked up, clean & ready to fire any time I want to do so.......

That's what guns are to Americans...... Heirlooms & freedoms passed from one generation to another generation.......

Would I defend my Country?????? You bet your sweet ass I would!!!!!! Would I use my Family Heirlooms to defend my Country????? Not on your life...... I'd go out & buy a military weapon to do that....... That's another right that I have as a American, I'm free to buy the guns I want / need anytime I choose to do so.......

I would never give up my Family history / relics & you won't find many Americans that would........

Reply to Mugz

Speaking of the suits, I've subitted my improvements to the third party controller code. . . you should be able to activate several llama suits simultaneously and from up to 20K, provided line of sight. Also, we think the intrusion detection system is a bit more. . . robust.

Ferpect!

Your controller code will be rolled out as standard on the Series II suits.

The intrusion detection system worked quite reliably with the tests, but those were only placebo Wingdings...

Reply to Mugz

Oh! I forgot to mention: the intrusion detection can be set to "Wingding only" or "anything but Wingding". . . the toggle is DNA coded so only you or approved oporators can activate it. Please be sure to set the toggle before subject insertion, as setting it afterward, well. . you know.

As far as we can tell the function of the (Pedantic Converter) PC is two fold (granted we are dealing with tyipcal Mugz Labs code obfuscation):
1) Enable the suit to interact with non PC equipped suits (especially important since many suits can be controlled simultaneously and some suits might be legacy)
2) Enable the llama suit to self-select additional subjects based on previoulsy insterted subjects (potential subjects are marked by the radioactive isotopes in the Spit Blaster mix).

So that being said should we shut down a campus anytime a gun is fired?? In that case UCLA and USC might as well close its doors.

Reply to LVDAX

Lock downs have increased in frequency in the past few years, this despite a major decrease in gun crimes.

I went to high school from 1993-1997 in the middle of the ghetto. The cops were constantly chasing down criminals around and in the school. I don't EVER remember being "locked" down because of crimes nearby or in the school. The only time we locked down was for tornados.

The frikin school boards have been overreacting.

Being in a Western State of the Great USA, there are more than one reason to carry a weapon. While fishing in the forests at the reservoirs you can meet all kinds of animals, both 2 legged and 4 legged ! It is nice to have some protection in either case. Rattle snakes abound in the wilds also, it seems only smart to carry a pistol with snake shot rounds. My wife and I have encountered bear, bobcat, cougar and coyotes of the 4 legged type. the 2 legged types are the Illegal aliens the come to this great country to grow dope , rape, pillage and steal, thus making it almost manditory to get a concealed weapons permit to be able to stay alive when meeting this type of critter. In other counties, maybe you don't have this problem. Of course if history is a lesson, Germany may not have over run so many countries and slaughtered the people , if they had the right to own guns and protect themselves!! Semper Fi !!

A gun cant kill anybody unless the trigger is pulled.
BY A HUMAN FINGER.

You can also take any modern (example) revolver/pistol
kock it(no wingy jokes) and throw it up in the air allday long till it breaks.

will it go off/fire NO. the trigger has to have constant pressure as
all modern pistoles?even most older ones have an interupter bar.

Example= take any 50 year old pistol or newer and kock it
drop a pencil down the barrel, pull the trigger and wham the pencil
shoots out the barrel.

Do the same only hit the trigger with another pencil and guess what NOTHING.

Hell you could kill as many people or more with a car.
