Hand to hand combat?

Hey Guys and Gals,

While I was playing my Kajhit Thief, I noticed that I had not developed my
hand-to-hand combat skill much. Therefore, I decided to work up my hand to
hand skills by beating up on rats that I encounter in the wild. I figured I
was being in character, since I was a cat and all. It seems to be a fairly
easy skill to raise; every rat I killed gave me one or two skill points.

Anyways, I was wondering just how effective hand to hand is in Morrowind.
My skill level is about 35 right now, and it takes quite a long time to kill
a rat or a nix hound. Is there any advantages to specializing in hand to
hand? When I get my skill level up to 100, will I be able to knock people
out with one blow? I've always wondered about that.

-John

P.S. - I've made some progress with my Morrowind addiction.... I've gotten
to the point were I only play every other day....

There is one quest in Bloodmoon where good hand to hand is an advantage.
I never found a real use for it as I preferred to sneak up on
potential donors and end their existence with a single blow. But then I
was not playing a Khajit so hand to hand did not really fit the concept.

If you need to knock someone out rather than killing them, hand-to-hand is the way to do it. I recently completed the Telvanni quest for Raven Omayn involving getting the Black Jinx ring from a Morag Tong member. Being a member of Morag Tong myself, I didn't want to kill him in order to get the ring (since I'd be expelled from the guild). So, I fought him in hand-to-hand, knocked him out, took the ring, and was not expelled.
