I just recently acquired an Axim V5 for free from my
father. It had fallen off a table onto the floor,
cracking the screen in the process but I wanted it
nonetheless.

After piddling around with it, I discovered that all of
the internal components were working perfectly. The
trouble is that the crack on the screen stems from the
middle of the very bottom of the screen and extends about
halfway up to the left. The LCD component underneath is
fine (no leaks or discolorations) but the crack in the
screen renders the bottom half of the screen completely
unresponsive. Because of this, not only does the keyboard
become unusable but, I can't play music or access any
(essential) lower buttons.

My question is: Can I fix it?

I'm a software person, not a hardware person, so I don't
even know if the screen is repairable but it's an
incredible shame to waste a $200+ Pocket PC that I
received for free. Also, because I received it for free,
I don't mind shelling over a decent amount of money to
fix this thing. I'm fairly sure my Axim was purchased
recently (maybe 6-8 months ago?) but I don't believe
there's a reciept or warranty.

Please, any help would be incredibly appreciated as I'm
attending college. I'm poor and stressed, making this
gift a possible lifesaver.

Thanks

As a last resort, to play music, etc, then try some landscape software,
lefthand rotation (buttons on right). This should allow you to acces the
menus on the active portion of the screen for assigning hardware buttons,
etc for use otherwise.
