Does anyone know if there are any sub-$1000 multifunction printer/scanners
that provide true double-sided scanning? My HP d155xi provides double sided
copying, but not true double sided scanning. Hence, there is no easy way to
scan a 100 page, double-sided document to Acrobat.

The HP costs about $800 three ago and I have been quite happy with it.
However, this one feature is lacking. Note that I do not require a two
sided imager. A clunky feed-flip-feed would be fine so long as it can run
in an automated fashion.

HP tech support indicated they have some standalone scanners that offer
double sided scanning. However, I would prefer to have a multifunction.

thanks in advance!

There is the office jet 7410 All-in-One. Used one. For some odd
reason duplex copy results in a 1/2 inch or so top and bottom, where
twice fed copy didn't have the same issue, and you can't reduce the
size of your copy when you copy in duplex mode. Still it's $500ish to
$600ish. I haven't tried duplex scanning on it, it's reported to
support that though.
