hello,
I have a new computer with win xp, most of the functions on my Epson photo
stylus 700 (720 in Australia) now do not work, I only have the basic tools
under xp, is there a driver to use with this operating system?

thanks for the advice,
Grant.

Try the drivers for Windows 2000 which are on the Epson website.

Although Epson seems to have an ink status monitor that will run under
XP for this printer, they don't list a printer driver for it that runs
under XP... only NT and 2000.

That probably leaves you stuck with the "in box" drivers from XP, which
will be limited in terms of features.

As others have mentioned, it is worth trying the Win 2000 driver for fu
functionality.

Was the 700 in Australia also. Windows 2000 are the 32bit drivers if xp
drivers are not available - this also applies to most others and was a
work around in the initial release stages of XP.

Problem I have I install the epson driver and remove MS$ Plug and
Pray driver, but after a restart it says new hardware found and
promptly puts the MS$ P&P driver back. any registry edit or
workaround to stop this?

This is a known problem and apparently has something to do with how
Epson designed the driver. I think some type of certification wasn't
implemented, so windows assumes it's not a good driver.

You should be able to just ignore the MS drivers, by making the Epson
drivers default for that printer.
