OEM optical drive

What cable to you need to have if you purchase an OEM dvd burner? How does it connect to HDD. The motherboad I am getting has the SATA cable for the hard drive and there are ide ribbon cables.

This is my first SATA hd purchase, so this is quite new to me. I am a newb to building a pc so please be gentle.

IDE DVD burner uses IDE cable to connect to MB
SATA DVD burner uses SATA cable to connect to MB
OEM is not a TYPE of DVD burner
DVD burner does not connect to HDD. DVD connects to MB (see my comments above). HTH
