LAN Streaming Video?

Hey there!

Well, here is what I'm after. I want to try and setup an old computer of mine so that I can "stream" videos over a lan. The goal being that its allways broadcasting movies from the harddrive, and people on the lan can just connect and watch the movie as its playing. I've been trying to figure out VLC (VideoLanClient), but the help files dont seem to make any sense (as far as I can figure them out). So I was wondering what others use/would recomend?
