When i first installed SpeedFan, i ignored one of the reading as it was giving an bogus vaule. I took another look at it today, and it seems to follow some logic with the processor loading.

I was wondering if it's reading the temperature of the voltage regulators.

When my PC's idling, i get:
CPU: 42
Motherboard: 29
Temp3: 28

and when i'm at full load with two instances of Prime95 torture test i get:
CPU: 62
Motherboard: 31
Temp3: 81

Also, when i'm overclocked 20% at full load i get:
CPU: 67
Motherboard: 31
Temp3: 122

I'm using a D805, P5WD2-E Premium, 1GB of OCZ DDR2-6400 and an X1800XT.

Anyone else confirm that the Temp3 reading is the voltage regulators?

[edit]
Also, if you leave it idling for ages with totally nothing happening Temp3 evens out with the motherboard temp and when playing Oblivion it reads in the 50's. I've got a screenshot but nowhere to upload to:p

Ok, well i'm going to get some BGA Ramsinks and sink the remaining voltage regulators on my board to see what happens :p

...they need sinking anyway, i've got a D805 :p
