I've been looking around for a new AGP card (I know, I know, AGP is nearly dead, but I'm not gonna bother with a new system just yet) and after some searching on Newegg, I found an A7600GT AGP for $172. Now, I've been sorta out of the loop for a while on video cards, but is this card really as powerful as the regular 7600GT? And would that make the card worth it?

If anyone has a better suggestion on how I should upgrade, I'm open to suggestions :D (but I have a video card budget of $200 max).

The AGP interface hasn't been a bottleneck for all graphics cards which you can buy from the market . 7600GT AGP is a good choice for you, I think.

I picked up the Leadtek AGP 7600GT last week for <200.00 including tax and shipping & handling. I replaced my FX5900 Ultra and have had no problems, with noticeable improvements.

Just wondering, how does a 7600GT AGP compare to a x800xl AGP. I might be able to sell my card off to a friend and buy this one.

If you can't find the 7600GT, try to swing another $12 bucks into your budget and get this 7800GS, it's recertified but as long as it still comes with a warranty, what the hey: eVGA 7800GS

The 7600GT is better at stock speeds but this site shows that the 7800GS overclocks better and thus in the end has better performance.

If not, here's the best deal on a 7600GS that I could find: MSI 7600GS

Thanks for the benchmark link. Too bad it proves I'm better off holding onto my 6800GT for a tad longer rather than buying a "stop-gap" GPU for a month or so til I build a C2D system. Ah well it does well still but I'd rather have more bling at 12x10 than I do. C'mon vendors and get more conroe boards out lol ;)

For you, the 7600GT would be a great upgrade and it's back in stock. If you want to keep AIW features, the AIW X800XT's are even cheaper than the 7600GT, although most games would favor the 7600GT by a little.

Yeah, the X800XT would be similar in terms of performance, but I don't really need the AIW features (though they are nice to have). I actually nearly bought it on the ATI website (using the trade-up program, I would've traded in my REALLY old Radeon 9200) for a pretty good price, but I decided to reconsider just to see if other prices might go down, then the 7600GT popped up :D . So I'm still not sure about the 7600GT, but I think it would still be a good option.
