Hi everyone,

I think I am screwed. I have the AM2 X2 4600+ processor with a Gigabyte GA-57SLI-S4 mobo.

I know that AMD 64 have Hyper Threading ( HT ) which speed is 2000MHz.

The problem is that I cannot change the HT multiplyer to " 4x " in the BIOS as there is no option. I am stuck on "5".

Is there any way that I can still overclock with the HT multiplyer on "5"? I want to overclock to 2.6GHZ...

Due to the fact that I can't change the HT multiplyer I suffer reboots no matter how small the overclock is...any help would be brill!

Thanks all.

P.S. I have the latest BIOS F3.

HT stands for Hyper Transport; Hyper Threading is a dead Intel technology used to improve multi threaded performance on a single core.

Anyways, I'd leave it at 5X if you're only going to be going from 2.4GHz to 2.6GHz.

Problem is that to go to 2.6Ghz I need 238 (FSB) x 11 multiplyer to get 2.6GHZ. But 238 x 2 x 5 HT Multiplyer) = 2380 which is greater than 2000 thus my system does not boot.

What I'm saying is that if the HT M was 4 I could use a FSB of 238 to get 2.6GHz.

Do you guys understand what I'm on about?
