That was a pretty quick subject detour, but yes. Kind of the opposite kick situation I would have expected, although not too shabby.

yeah those blueangels and thunderbirds push the limits with aircraft.

it is rare you hear of a crash/death.

just means they will train harder than they do already

Whilst its always a tragedy for a the families involved incidents like this go to reinforce the death defying nature of the show.

Just goes to show those boys play for real.

Fortunately, with the exception of the pilot, no one was killed, though there was some significant property damage.

well they are NAVY pilots...

just kidding guys, in all honesty it sucks when shit like this happens, my heart goes out to the family.

Most people don't think about it the way I do though. When I heard about it I thought "wow, those guys are really amazing pilots to push their aircraft that hard day in, day out and only have one fatality every few years" or whatever the statistics are. Not often.

They know stepping into the cockpit that it could be their last time, but that doesn't make it any less sad I suppose.

Well, it was a 12202ft x 200ft rwy. Navy pilots really arent used to having something as luxerious as that. It probably confused them.

Even when no one is around, those guys still show off and push the limits.

Couldn't eject because he was inverted and low to the ground.. and a witness said some parts started coming off his jet.

And if you've ever had a chance to see the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds, you know the Thunderbirds, while impressive, look amateur after watching the Blue Angels.

I've seen them both several times at that.. Corrected previous statement: Saturday's crash was the 26th fatality in the team's 60-year history

I dont know why he didnt eject, and the witness reports have been inconclusive, so I'll wait for the MIR to come out.

Ive seen the Blues..........I dunno, I stopped counting. I lived in PCola, and used to see them practicing at NAS Pensacola/Pensacola Beach all the time during the summers. I havent seen the Tbirds a fraction as many times, but I agree, they didnt hold a candle to the Blues the times Ive seen them. I dont know how much the T birds practice, but in pre season the Blues go up 2 or 3 times a day, 6 days a week when they det out to El Cenrto (their winter home) for 10 weeks. Thats a whole lot of practice.

I was down at Navarre Beach when they had their air show 2 years ago. The traffic was so busy we went to that beach instead.

From what I've heard and read, he was inverted at the time.

Two of my friends I was out with.. one is a pilot for the air force, the other an egress tech for the the AF. They both were sent emails and texts from others about it. That's how I heard he was inverted.

while the blue angels are hardcore and do some amazing stuff, im gonna have to disagree with you on that one.

i have never seen the blue angels do the mirror...

[/maybe biased but that thing rocks.]

Just one thing? That's it? Come on...

Watch the Thunderbirds.. they do some crazy stuff.. but it takes a few minutes between each stunt.

Watch the Blue Angels.. they go pretty much non-stop. You don't wait to see them perform stunt to stunt to stunt.

Be it Navy or Air force they are amazing, highly skilled pilots. The loss of one of them is a sad day for aviation.

It's sad when I saw it on news probably within an hour after the crashed. The Blue Angels and The Thunder Birds are always so much fun to watch. At least its something that he really enjoyed doing (flying). :(
