I read a lot of people's feedback on this subject before deciding and finally settled on:

Patriot Signature 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit

It's working like a champ so far.

I am using 2 x 1Gb ADATA sticks which I bought from Hong Kong on ebay which cost me just £72 including delivery!

Supposed to be 667MHz, but so far I have it at 850MHz without any voltage increase and it runs like a dream.

Running a core2 duo e6400 with 425MHz FSB.

Don't take the OCZ's that i have (see sig). I think its holding my OC down. I think there is somethign with Rev 2 and the DS3. Not 100% sure.

do you have the model # of your ram, new egg has 2 different kinds, ie: Patriot Signature 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model PSD21G667K - Retail & Patriot Signature 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model PSD21G667KH - Retail, do you know what the difference is? thanks.

I'm using PQI DDR2-5400 (2-1gig) and it's working fine. No problem with initial build, and with everything at default except the FSB I can run at 333(2.4Ghz with E6300) with no problems. I've run it at 410 FSB (2.8Ghz) for a few runs of 3dMark 2006, but it's too hot with the stock heatsink.

Probably not the best memory, but pretty darn cheap!

This is with Bios F5 from the Gigabyte web site, XP Home.

(the 2 gigs were $140 after rebate from NewEgg a few weeks back)

I'm running pqi TURBO 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 667 (PC2 5400) Dual Channel Kit. These went up in price a lot, don't know why. They have been on my system for about a month now without any problems.

Hi. I'm considering buying 965p-ds3 too but might go for the s3 since i don't mind the capacitors being electrolytes. The board supports up to 800mhz ram, should I go for the full 800mhz or save money and go for the 667mhz? I know long-term 800mhz would be more logical but is there any big performance hit? I don't plan to overclock much, but if i can I'll try. I'm considering Corsair 2x512mb XMS2 TWIN.

Thanks.

Corsair 2GB TwinX XMS2 PC-6400 C4 works fine for me. If you are unlucky enough to receive a board with F1 bios, just get some cheap DDR2 ram so it boots, then change bios dimm overvoltage to 0.3, then return cheap ram for refund :D . Although i find it hard to believe any places are selling F1 bios boards. I bought mine about a month ago and it had F3.

My RAM Corsair XMS2 PC 5400

Just went up in price again though. I have an E6400, GA-965P-DS3 and got this ram up to 400FSB on default settings. The downside is when I started playin around with the timings I found out one of the sticks was bad - so I;m waiting on my RMA. Other than that I can't complain much about the overclock

Whew!!! You guys don't know it but you sure are making me feel better!

I just ordered a GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 P965 from Newegg and was planning on using 2GB of CorsairTWIN2X2048-6400 DDR2 800 I already had on my new C2D build. (I had recently built a X2 4200+ system; then another real basic E6300 for my son and it smokes my new AMD PC!) But then I have been hearing stories about the 965 mobo's being real sensitive to ANYTHING other than 1.8v ram. (mine is 1.9v) I've been sweating it out and dreading more "RMA-downtime"!

Sounds like it should be no problem, tho. Thanks!

BTW...I paid $154 in late July. I saw it for as high as $350+/- recently! Shite!

Jesus, is it just me, or is ram like twice as expensive as it was when you guys posted all this? I mean, I'm prowling NewEgg, Froogle and PriceGrabber for DDR2-667 and can find nothing for less than $100 USD per GB. Are ram prices that fluid that they double in a couple weeks?!

mind you! 2x512mb 800mhz is around 100 pounds incl. vat in the UK T_T

Yeah ram prices r very fluidic..remember the old good days of SD133 128mb? I remember the price dived down from $50 to like $17! It could've gone down to like 3 for $10! haha... I guess this is the reverse right now... T_T

I have always used crucial ram never had a problem with any DOA sticks. Right now I'm using crucial ballastix DD2800 2 gig kit on a intel D975XBX with no problems. Slightly overclocked with E6600. Paid only $199 for the kit at zipzoomfly.com 3 weeks ago.
