I have a Compaq P1220 that I love! It's a 22" CRT that fits beautifully in my corner desk. Perfect for everything from gaming to spreadsheets, and it supports more resolutions and refresh rates than you could ever need!

If looking for a monitor for gaming, Go for a CRT monitor. CRTs are much better than lcds, with very accurate colors, higher screen resolutions, sharper and detail image, and cheaper in price. LCD still needs lots to improve to beat a CRT.

How about considering this two quality crts.

ViewSonic PerfectFlat G225fB Monitor
(21", 2048x1536, .2mm - MPN: G2 black
$426.45 with tax and shipping

Samsung SyncMaster 1100MB 21" Monitor
(21", 2048x1536, 0.2mm - MPN: 1100MBIVORY)
$456.81 with tax and shipping

and u wont find LCDs at this high resolution under $600.

Get a decent widescreen LCD and you're good to go.

Any game can be tweaked for any custom resolution. Check out the widescreen gaming forums.

Those who tell you to get a CRT are living in the past and probably still burn oil lanterns and use chamber pots in their bedrooms.

Sure LCDs can't match CRTs in terms of picture quality...

But CRTs have the low refresh rates which leads to strain on your eyes.

And CRTs are HUGE compared to LCDs, which means more weight and more space taken up on your desk.

For a new gaming monitor, I would highly recommend a 20" LCD...try looking at the Samsung or the Viewsonic VX series of widescreen monitors. Very high quality.

As towely said, any game can be tweaked to run in widescreen...although more and more games are coming up with that option built-in.

WOW @ 1680x1050 4xAA is...... amazing

even though it is at a much slower pace than normal FPS's

I will probably get that Samsung 205BW suggested, it is fast, has HDCP only negative points I heard about it are dark gradients...

It shot up in price from $270 to $330 in a matter of days so I will wait until it comes back down before buying

I will upgrade my 6800GS to 1o2 7900GS at the same time
