Hello,

I want to know about the precautions I need to take while installing C2D E6300.

1. Can I use the thermal paste provided with the heatsink?
2. Do I need to apply any additional thermal paste?
3. Any special instructions for installing the heatsink
4. Any precautions?
5. Any link or document about installing a processor in the motherboard?

This is my first build

Just pop the included heatsink on. There are very good installation instructions on mounting the CPU and cooler included with the CPU, diagrams and all.

Do I need to use any other thermal paste?

or the default one is OK?

The heatsink should have three strips of thermal compound, that's all that's needed. Rotate the cooler slightly back and forth a few degrees before snapping the posts into place. Make sure they DO make a definite snapping sound.

But once you do hear a click, stop fussing with it. I ended up taking 20 minutes on my first LGA775 build trying to put the fan on, when it was on all along.
