Hi, I have a very old Asus Cusl2 Motherboard. The manual metions its AGP Pro/4x.
Is Pro another term for 8x? Would a AGP 8x card work in this?
Would an AGP 8x card be backwards compatible with a 4x slot? (Besides bandwidth being decreased, would it still work?)

An AGP pro slot is 4x in speed but has more power for professional graphics cards. And also to fix the AGP voltage issue with the Asus P3v4x. As far as compatibility concerns I have an All in Wonder X800Xt on a AGP 4x Kt266a chipset and it works well but doesn't push the card. I also had a 9800pro AIW on the same board. If you’re an Nvidia fan, I recommend Gainward cards. I have one (Gforce fx 5600 256mb) running on a 2x board with a via 693 chipset. If you are looking Ati give me a few weeks I am going to try a 9800pro AIW on an ASUS P3V4X and if it works, it should definitely work for you. Note I said Should.
