To an extent.
I believe they're mostly same chip.
It has a higher multiplier though.

i.e
3800 10x200 FSB = 2.0
4200 11x200= 2.2

This is assuming cache is the same which I believe they are.
The onyl differance might be virtualization.
The Windsor core has this and the Manchestor doesn't.
Both 3800/4200 are available with both options.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks, it does help. I just purchased the 3800 because I thought the 4200 would just be an OCd version. For what I'll be doing, I wasn't sure it was worth the $30 difference. I guess if I ever grow some cajones, I'll try to give it a boost.

Know the multiplier is locked.
However you can up the FSB to Overclock it.
For example 250x11= 2.7
333x11=3.6

You would have to find a fsb that makes easy divider with ram tho.
Just showing how it goes tho and telling you the multiplier will be locked.
Only their FX versions have it unlocked so you can change.
However they're much more expensive =p

On my 3800+ I was easily able to go from 2.0ghz to 2.4 on the stock voltage with basically no temperature increase. I just had to lower the FSB:DRAM ratio and lower the HT mutliplier to 4X. Now my RAM is at 220mhz and my FSB is at 240. I could take it even further, but I'm satisfied with it for now.
