I just bought a hx 4700 brand new, in the box. It seems to have problems
turning on with the switch, about 50/50. I can get it to start by doing a
soft boot. (pushing in the little button on the bottom) Has anyone else
encountered this problem and is there any way to fix it short of returning
it to HP.

Also I keep getting low memory messages. I have a 256 mb sd card in there.
How do I stop this message from happening. Thanks for any help...obviously
I'm a newbie.

Cheers

The applications run in "Main" memory regardless of what card you put into
the device.

To Stop applications, do the following
Start > Settings > System > Memory > Running Programs
Choose the programs you are not using and press the Stop button

This might seem a stupid answer but as a brand new hp4700 user I found that
I was holding the damned button down waiting for something to happen when
all it needs is a brief and gentle push and release.

The SD card is for storage only. Your programs don't use it while they are
running. The 'X' button on the top right doesn't work like a normal X
button does on a normal PC. It's more like the minimize button because the
programs just keep running in the background. You need to stop the programs
(as advised) regularly to avoid running out of memory.
