My system:
Intel E6600 CPU
X1800XT
NEC 20WMGX2 DVI widescreen native @ 1680 x 1050.
Asus P5W DH Deluxe

Everything was fine until I installed the 1.4 patch that was released today. Now Battlefield 2 won't load at all. I click the shortcut, I get a black screen and then crash to desktop. I uninstalled Battlefield 2 entirely and reinstalled it. Same thing. I have no idea what to do. I am pretty sure my refresh rate is set for 60. The way it is crashing makes me think it is a refresh rate type issue, but my monitor only supports 60 and that is a compatible setting.

Any thoughts?

UPDATE: This issue has been resolved. DXT textures was not enabled in my ATI control panel. This must be enabled for the game to start.

what patch the upgrade or the full? Do you have special forces on the machine also? If so you have to load both of them, then install the patch. I downloaded the incremental and it works fine.

It is just the incremental 1.3 -->1.4 patch. First I apply 1.3 patch then I apply the 1.4 patch. I don't have special forces.
