This was my first build and now a year down the line I'm a bit wiser (only a little :p) i know its not the best setup. I've got a bit of cash (~$250) burning a hole in my pocket :)

What should I think about upgrading to optimise my setup (if anything!)

I use my system for both applications and gaming.

CPU
Intel Pentium 4 630 Socket 775 2MB 800FSB

MB
Asus P5LD2-VM Intel 945G

RAM
Kingston ValueRAM 2x512MB 240Pin DIMM PC2-4300 ECC DDR2 CL4

GPU
Gigabyte GeForce 6600GT 128MB PCI-E

PSU
Antec TruePower II 430W

+Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 200GB S150
+ other usuall stuff

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You will surely benefit from a better video card, more RAM would be nice also.

7600GT, and extra 1gb of RAM is what I suggest if you really want to upgrade.

I would stronly suggest you save enough money for a new rig, since new video cards, and Vista are coming out.

Word.

I though that even with the marginal performance loss that ECC it might be worth it, dunno tho?

all the choice and variations.

Corsair xms2 is generally great RAM. I have used over 6gb of it in the past year or so and none of it has been faulty! The performance is very good and the price is quite reasonable in my opinion.
