My Ipaq 3950 has been locking up frequently and when doing a soft reset (and
sometimes when it is just turned on) a "Notification Error" pops up with the
message "cannot execute \windows\restart.exe". It appears that this error
may be occuring multiple times when the unit starts up as the title bar
appears to be flashing briefly. Sometimes, the error goes away by itself
and other times, I tap the 'x' to close it.

Anybody got a clue what's going on? Thanks for your help.

Dave

Do you have one of those software "soft reset" programs installed on your
Pocket PC? It almost sounds like it is in your startup folder. Try using
file explorer on your ipaq, navigate to Windows\startup folder. if
Restart.exe is in there, move it to another folder and see if that stops
the problem.
