Hi there.

Im having a bit of trouble with my IDE Toshiba DVD-R.

I am also using a GA-K8N Pro-SLI Mobo.

Anyways, my problem;

When I try to boot from my Windows XP CD, my computer does not recognize my DVD-R drive.

I am trying to down grade from a Windows Vista installation (beat 2, build 5384)

When I actually boot into Windows Vista, my computer recognizes my drive and I can use it, but when I try to set boot priority, my computer does not recognize it in its initial boot-up.

I dunno if that is clear or not, but basically--My computer doesn't recognize my drive until it is in Windows.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Go into the BIOS (usually DEL or F8 during POST).

Find where drives are indicated. I'm sure it'll show your DVD-R drive.

Now, in the BOOT ORDER section, I'm sure you have the "CD-ROM" disabled. Enable it, and make it #1, and then the HDD #2. Disabled "Boot-up Floppy seek" and also disable "Boot from floppy". disable all other possible boot options too. i.e. Network boot.

Save to CMOS and reboot.

Insert XP CD-ROM.

Voila.

I don't see any option for the "BOOT ORDER", I also don't see any option that would allow me to have the DVD-R disabled..

Are you referring to the boot order, as in, boot priority? I already have it set to boot from the DVD-R first, and still no go.

he guy is right u go to bios and change the order of booting devices
there would be
1 <name of your hd>
2 <maby cd-rom>or
2 <disabled>
enabled it by using (- +) or the arows up-dwon
and make
1 <cd-rom>
2 <name of your hd>
3 <disabled>
4 <disabled>
