I was looking on microsofts Support Lifecycle webpage and found that, windows 7 is only supported until 2015.

Well thats not very long. If you have pro there is extended support up to 14/01/2020.

Windows 7 has only just been released. Windows should have main support for at least ten years, as it takes that long to get all the bugs sorted out. I also don't want to keep upgrading all the time.

XP support runs out on 08/04/2014, so not much point in buying windows 7 then.

well, its all up to microsoft in the end. they may want to have an OS out in 2013 and probably another in 2019, about every 4 years. in order to not over load the tech support in companies, they end the life cycle regularly.
