Isn't this the same source that claimed that AMD was having issues with it's 65nm process, as well.
I'll believe it when it is actually released, not because of the Inquirer. They just have too many conflicting reports about the same process.
yeah the INQ reversed themselves pretty quick
now they are saying that AMD has 65um chips done back in june....
i think the INQ has some good sources and some really bad BS sources....
sometimes they get it right
sometime they are flat wrong
What i found most interesting is that AMD has a 45um prototype already
Yeah, I take what the Inquirer writes with more than a few grains of salt.
I usually will hold off any comment about any process, until either an engineering sample is shown working (not a static picture) or when the actual product is released. With an ES, you can at least know for sure that there is a viable, working product in production.
Until then, it's all just rumor and speculation.
Not really news. Noone has even a 65nm ES, therefore I don't really care that they're 'on track' for 45nm, 22nm etc...
Perhaps the Inq is trying to create some hype a-la Core 2? But without an ES pretty much only BM and a few other fanboys are getting excited.
good i can get a 90nm and save big time

65um? this reminds me of a homework I did in college once, I set the gate length to 18m instead of 18um, that was funny.

Are you harboring some kinds of deep feelings for me or something?
Keep my name out of your mouth. I don't get excited by CPU news, only interested.

How about one from the most unbiased, knowledgeable sites on the entire web.

Did you know that sometimes you play the funny character well?

Oh man, you just made reference to the 'holy grail' of computing technology of 'holy grails' on the net! LOL
I'd like to see what evidence there is for 45nm prototypes being done.
I don't even think Sharikou has said that. :?
Anyways, here's a 65nm AMD Brisbane roadmap for those interested:

Hey, c'mon, the Inquirer probably used it's usual 'loads of sources' to get it's information. I'm sure that 'plenty of sources' (or the work experience kid, one of the two) is plenty reliable.
Oh come on, the inquirer uses legit sources and we all know it. Myspace and Facebook are very valued sources for information. :-D
Lmao i hate the inquirer.
| Quote : i havent heard of 45nm proto types, but ,they produced 45nm dram 3 months after intel did,and according to daily tech or anand the process was like .07 larger in size than intels.
|
The SRAM both companies produced are very simple designs when compared to a CPU.

No, there are a variety of different changes and problem when scaling down to this level. There is an excellent thread by JumpingJack on 65nm here:

45nm isn't even on AMD's roadmap until 2008.
| Quote : AMD also announced that its transition to 45nm technology is accelerating. AMDโs plan is to begin initial volume production of 45nm 18 months after initial 65nm production, currently anticipated to be in the mid-2008 time frame.

Hopefully, nobody got really excited about 65nm AMD chips in one month, because AMD is telling The Inquirer to change their story:
| Quote : "AMD is committed to shipping 65nm products to customers by the end of the year [2006]. Our plans are to be substantially converted to 65nm by mid 2007."
|
This is again back to the original 65nm introduction schedule that we've all known. (ie 65nm chips launching in December. You can say it may be November, but it's not that likely otherwise they'd market it as a strong Q4 introduction rather than a before the year is out one.)
LordDope is using AMD(Abusive Morons Drugs). Don't flame him about the FUD-y thread, it is not his fault.
Also I found this image, very educative(credits goes to Jake Barnes):

ROLF!!!

n->nano
Maybe AMD is beefing up!

I thought those were escort sites.
I never understood how none of the girls charged me though.
Hahahaha
You sly devil.
On a serious note, that troll picture was very informative. Everyone should print it out and post it on a window in a store so everyone can see.
I personally couldnt care less about amds over one year behind intel in processor lithography size. Its not going to change the performance of these processors, and most likely the silicon will be a little less stable then our current 90nm processors.
Are you always this negative???
If you must know, yes most of the time I am.
It's the best policy. (just had to
)
The only thing he'll adopt is 9nm or some AMD fanboy kid...
| Quote : If we could just teach Baron to adopt it. |
LOL! I like your sence of humor Jack
