Thing that I would consider before purchasing would be:

Which amongst those cards fit best in my budget.

I wouldnt pull my hair off for a mere difference of 6-10 frames coz in the end they are all 7900 GT's.. especially since dx10 cards are around the corner , truth be told I wldnt purchase a 7900 GT at all now coz I am always on a tight budget. Offcourse there are people here who would think otherwise.. Just my thought.

Honestly I don't think that the extra memory is worth the extra cost. I've heard that the 7900GT will never use that extra memory. More important is the memory bit (all 7900GT's have 256 bit memory). What you might want to invest your money in is a factory overclocked card. (eVGA's 7900GT superclocked maybe?) The eVGA is at 550mhz compared to 450 stock, overclocked performance, but still under warranty (though it's no longer available at Newegg, a little harder to find).

Well at first i thought about buying ASUS 7900GT .. and yesterday found point of view with the same price (still have to call to the shop and check) .. So now i'm thinking about almost free +256mb .. and about it's usage ... well i know right now only min number of games are using more than 256 mbs, but who know's what games will be out ...
And bout this DX10 and pre-overclocked cards .. well i hope i'll be able to buy DX10 card by selling 7900 GT and paying the difference ...
The reason i don't want to buy a pre-overclocked card is it's really hard to get one here (Latvia :DD) isn't impossible thou :D

This makes my point about memory size in respect to performance enhancements. Just get the highest clocked 256Mb card you can find. I really don't think the higher cost is worth it for a card that is only clocked 25Mhz above stock.

What that test doesn't show is whether the game hitches while running or not.

I used Ultra on Quake4 with my 6800GT and frame wise it ran fine....but it was hitching horribly due to a lack of memory i benchmarked it and i got an Average of 40~ fps but like i said it was unplayable if i had had 512 it may have hitched less or not at all. my friend said it stopped hitching for him by using 2gigs of system memory so...and that was on a 6600GT with 128mb

so as long as you have loads of system ram your fine i guess. i had 1 gig when running it on Ultra. ill try it now with my 7900GT KO and 2gigs of ram and see if it does it now

the gigabyte 7900GTs are clocked at 520

the evga 7900GT (signiture series) is clocked at 600
thats just 50 short of GTX

the MSI 7900GT is only clocked at 480 thats quite slow in todays terms
