EVerytime I try and install 7 on my brothers pc it either freezes at 'completing installation' or goes to a black screen afterwards from which it does nothing. After restarting and trying to go into safemode it will stop at classpnp.sys, but after a minute proceeds to load then saying cannot complete install in safe mode.
If booting up not in safe mode then it goes to the Windows logo screen then goes to a black screen afterward, doing nothing for hours.
I believe the problem is something to do with the 9800gtx in the system, however I have no onboard video on the mobo, and
I have tried many things...
took ram out
checked BIOS options -- ran default etc.
Just 1 single monitor plugged in, by a vga > dvi connector.
tried to do disc repair
have used several diff discs to try and install.
USB's unplugged
etc etc etc...
I have tried to get help on here several times to no avail... I am seriously nearing the giving up point...is there anything else I can try?
Once I even did a disc image restore on my pc (which has the same specs as the other.) then I put that HD in the other pc and restored to its HD, then it booted into windows once, I thought I had it, but then I restarted and it did the same thing..

I don't think the hardware is the problem since you can get the install program to run until the last few steps. But just to make sure, are your BIOS settings on default and nothing is overclocked?
Did you you do a partition and full format on the hard drive to make sure you're not writing the OS data on and corrupt surfaces of the platter?
Or are you using a copy of Win 7 and it's not the original disc?
