I just put together my system

Asus p5b deluxe mobo
Intel Core2 E6600
2Gig Patriot pc2 6400 Dual channel memory kit.

I have the latest bios 6.14.

When I run cpuz it tells me the memory is running single channel. I didnt see anything in the bios to change this. I installed both sticks in channel A. Is this a problem with the memory and the mobo, or is there something I am missing in the bios settings?

You may want to try switching the ram positions. Try every possible configuration... It couldn't take long, 5-10 minutes maybe. Just stop the boot process and check it in the bios. This will (hopefully) solve the problem. If not, its more serious....

yes, the point of dual channel mode is to read some data from channel A and some (at the same time) from channel B.

Thanks all for the help. When I think about it now it was pretty dumb of me to put both sticks in the same channel. I guess dual CHANNEL should have given it away. I moved the second stick to the other channel and now I'm screaming along with my memory in proper dual channel mode :)

errr... frankly here, I'd throw a 'RTFM', manuals usually describe memory sticks recommanded placement configurations - to be read carefully when you build your system.

You mean "if all else fails, read the instructions?"

no, I just meant 'before you fry your hardware, rea the f***ing manual'.
