Sorry, I left out the good part. Every time I try to drag something, it moves a tiny bit, then I get a dialog box (Repeat move, cut, copy, paste, etc.) and dragging stops. I've also lost several unsaved files where I click on a command, and the program dissappears. I'm also missing several saved files from Autocad. Virus??

Are you dragging by right clicking ?

No, dragging by right clicking (as I always have).

Sorry again, I meant LEFT clicking.

It's not unlikely that you've picked up a bug of some kind. Is your PC protected?

Also, what happens when right clicking ? No, seriously.

Could be a virus perhaps or a bug.

Right clicking works ok on desktop, asks if I want to move or copy at destination. Right clicking has no effect in Autocad, Solitaire or Excel. The problem is more pronounced dragging right than dragging left. I have run malwarebytes scan and spybot, no infection found. I have had resident Norton antivirus on the machine since startup July 2010.

Did you run a full scan of your system ?

Yes, I ran full scan with both programs, as well as Norton. No hits.

Have you tried re-installing windows ?That seems like the only way for now, I guess. Backup all your files before this.

Reinstalled Win 7 (Whew!), finally got my modem & router working again, but still have the dragging problem. Can't drag in desktop, Excel, Autocad, Solitaire, etc. I can cut and paste to move items. What a drag.

This could be a virus or bug from a email or so.

After restarting and "configuring windows updates", problem went away. Thanks
