New HD issues

I recently bought a new WD160GB 16MB drive to install onto my system so I can move over alot of pictures movies ect. I installed the drive and booted up the computer but when I go into My Computer there is no drive for it (ex. of what i mean is everyones default drive is the C: drive) I can see it in my device manager though.

How can I get that drive to show there when I CAN see it in My Computer as a lettered drive?

You have to go control panel/adminstrative tools/computer management/disk management.

Format, set active partition, and assign the drive letter before you can use the new drive.

Oh, make sure you do this to the new drive! Don't format or mess with your current "c" drive!

I don't think Windows would allow you to format C:\ considering its running on it. I haven't tried it, but I would guess it would give you an access denied prompt.
