C2D?

Quad what? Core? That will take over a year at best. No way to tell if the Quad-core will still use the 775 socket so stop thinking abt it.

For 775, u have different motherboards for SLI/Xfire or single GPU.

C2D = Core 2 Duo.

We have no idea which boards support Kentsfield, but we do think that all boards with Conroe support will run Kentsfield.

Asus P5B Deluxe, Gigabyte DS3 are some boards to consider.

Would really want to OC the core2? What risks are in volved in Overclocking, besides the obvious.

Not much. If overclock is too high, or voltages are messed up, the PC won't boot to OS, so you'll need to play around with settings. Slowly increasing FSB, and voltages can prevent stability issues.

It can take a while to find the sweet spot for any rig.

TG Daily has some info for you.

Kentsfield will work directly with the 775 socket and the 965 and 975 chipsets. Kentsfield is supposed to arrive before the end of the year.

Apparently Toms will have a full article on an ESthey received, Monday 9/11 (Remember to observe a moment of silence people, never forget.)
