Version and Upgrades

Please excuse the simplicity of these questions, but...

My Settings...About says my version is Version 3.0.12199
Is this 2002? 2003? How do I upgrade to a newer version?

Thanks for the info.

I have emailed Samsung about upgrades, they haven't replied. The device is a
Samsung SPH-i700

I followed the link supplied by Rene and upgraded successfully (Thanks
Rene). I have had my phone for almost a year now. Any time I spoke to
Verizon people about upgrading, I always got that blank stare. Luckily you
guys are here.
