ASRock 775Dual-VSTA - DDR2 PC2 5300 or 5400? [UPGRADING]

I'm not sure if it matters whether I use 5300 or 5400 memory for this board. does anyone know? Also, if I want to put 1GB, I should use two 512 sticks, yes?

Doesn't matter between 5300/5400. Yes, use two sticks of RAM, in order to run it Dual-Channel. If you're going to put a Core2Duo in the motherboard, stick with PC4200..as it's best to run the RAM synchronously(1:1). If you intend on overclocking, then PC5400 may be better. If you aren't overclocking, and you get PC5400, you may be able to run it at lower timings@ 4200 speed. Just a couple of things to consider, hope i haven't confused you. GL

No problem, it should be okay. The thing that i don't like about it, is the lack of heatspreaders. I would still suggest that you run it at 533MHz@ 4-4-4-12, and just make sure that it doesn't run too hot. As long as you have some decent airflow in your case, you should be okay. GL

I'm upgrading the memory to 2GB so now it's time to buy new. You mentioned specifically PC4200 if I'm using a Core2Duo. I am using the Core2Duo E6300 in this machine. But isn't that 4200 memory slower than what the board can take? Do you still recommend that I get the DDR2-533 PC4200 memory? If so, the one rated the best at newegg is:
