Ok here is a newb question that has to do with memory voltages.

I am purchasing a MSI 975X Platinum Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard and looking at the specs on the MSI webpage is stats:

*Supports 4 unbuffered DIMM of 1.8 Volt DDR2 SDRAM
*Support Dual Channel DDR2 533/667/800MHz and up

Looking on newegg i can not find any DDR2 800 any lower then 1.9v. The only memory i can find is DDR2 667 @ 1.8v. So the question is, can i purchase this DDR2 800 @ 2.0v and just bump up the voltage of the mobo in the bios? or do i have to stick with DDR2 667?

1.8V is the standard for DDR2. All DDR2 will run at 1.8V. However, if you want to get the specified latency timing performance out of your RAM, you *may* have to increase the memory voltage to the value quoted by the manufacturer.

Thanks for the info Mondoman.

From the info i gathered i will go ahead and purchase the DDR2 800 and if all is good ill play around with some memory OCing and raise the voltage closer to 2.0v.

He said it. Just raise the voltage in BIOS.
