I've been out of the loop for a while - building my first computer in 4 years (or 20 in computer years).
Gaming - a little, with this new computer I'll probably start gaming a bit more.
Main Use - Photoshop CS2. I process about 10gigs of digital photos from a shoot.
I was looking at the All-In-Wonder X1900 since I would also like to capture from my camcorder. The TV capture features are cool, I'll make use of those as well.
Is this card the "best" way to go? Or should I buy a "regular" card and a seperate tuner / capture card? If so, which is the best capture option?
I would also like to keep a VGA connector, unless those adaptors work well.
I also noticed this card needs 30A@12V from the power supply. Any quick / easy way to search for this feture on newegg?
This will be plugged into an ASUS P5B Deluxe MB with 2gig of memory. I have not picked out the rest of the parts yet.
Doesn't your camcorder have a firewire port? If so, you don't need a video capture card.
I would suggest to stay away from the AIW cards. Plus they don't have the Theater550 chip. The TV Wonder Elite card is not bad if you want to actually capture analog signals and hardware encode them to mpeg2. However, editing in mpeg2 format is not recommended.
For video information, I would highly recommend the site: www.videohelp.com. They have always been useful for me.
Thanks for the info - no firewire on the camcorder, just S-video out. I've used stand alone external capture devices that take the S-Video to Firewire. Works well, would like something internal with this new PC.
