Hey guys, I'm really confused about the SATA I and II.. The more I read up on it, the more confused I become lol..

Umm, is the P5W DH compatible with the Raptor (sata 1, am i right?)

and, I read somewhere that the mobo doesn't support atapi? What cd drives can i put into it?

Thanks.

Edit: In my haste I posted this in the wrong subforum..

Mods can close it, I'll be posting in the Asus one sorryyy

Yes the P5W DH is compatable with all Raptor drives. I have two first generation ones working in it right now. All SATA2 ports will revert to SATA1.5 in the event you plug a SATA1.5 device into them (aka Raptor).

Now for the optical drives, just plug the optical drives into the SIDE IDE Controller, near the SATA ports. If you try to plug any CD/DVD drives into the bottom IDE port near the PCI slots, you will never get that sucker to boot into windows.

Other than that it works great, I've got mine loaded to the gills. With the following hardware.
Asus P5W DH
2x Raptor 74GB First Gen (Raid 0)
2x Seagate 200GB (EZ_Raid Controller, Raid 1)
1x SATA Plextor CD/DVD DL Burner
1x Atapi PATA Plextor CD/DVD Burner
4x 1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 DIMM's
1x Core 2 Duo E6600
1x X1900XTX Sapphire
1x Standard 3.5" Floppy Drive
1x Xion 600W PSU

So if it can handle all that junk, I think your covered.
