idk if you'd call it a rampage or not. You would think the scores would b signifigantly higher.

Just, what, pray-tell makes you say this???

Hector Ruiz and a bunch of spin doctors? :?:

The only reason scores weren't higher in gaming is because almost no game is optimized for more than 2 cores. That's not intel's fault. A prime example of this is 3DMark06. Clearly, 3Dmark06 takes advantage of quad cores. Take a look at the Photoshop scores and the video encoding benchmarks too. Those will knock your socks off.

Make no mistake. Quad Cores definitely has a place in enthusiast computing. Now we just need to get the game developers on board w/ more optimizations. :)

I think it will be a while before game developers take multi-core into consideration, because majority are still using single core. I hope dual-core prices drop low after Intel & AMD launch their quadcore so people will move over to dual-core faster and game developers can start using multicores.

Since MANY game developers are supporting 4x4, Kentsfield will get some optimizations too. It's too close to call right now but all reports are that FX shines in pairs. The reported 80% increase over single may or may not be enough.

It'll eb cool to see them though.

Can you tell us at least 1 game developer that have brought at least a part of a demo version or something optimized to run 4 threads on a 4x4?
, Kentsfield will get some optimizations too.
You mean that Kentsfield needs another optimiziations, different from those of 4x4 to benefit of quadthreading like 4x4?

All reports = Shakira, LameNoobMike & other HORDE BSlogs and offcourse the_INQ.

Please, please tell us more about the +80% improvements. We really want to humilate you.

Many designers are supporting 4x4? Shoot man, you can't start supporting a platform or processer if you don't have a hard copy or rough idea (as in actual tested benches) of what the CPu will do.

EDIT: Is there actual data of how the 4x4 performs cause i'd actually be very intrested in seeing how AMD fights back at Intel.

Oh comeon, a Core 2 Duo wipes the floor with an Athlon 64 X2, so I can't really see how 2 X2's are going to even match what is effectively 2 C2D's, especially when the FSB speed only seems to have a small impact on Kentsfields performance.

Realistically AMD can't compete until K8L, so the sooner they get that out, the better

Aren't Opterons close enough?
