Anyone know if AC97 audio requires MS UAA IRQ?

Trying to find another MB without ms uaa irq for audio on w2k or xp.

I have asked several techsupport people and the answer is it does not require the ms uaa. Remember the ac97 does also require an irq, just not the ms uaa.
