Search my registry for Windows 7 activation code

My son's friend worked on my PC after it crashed and he installed Windows 7... previous to that I had Windows XP. I don't have a disk or any information whatsoever to activate the Windows 7 that expires in six days.
Can you help me?

Did he purchase a copy of windows 7 specifically to install on your computer? If so then the product key would be with the installation disc he used to install the operating system.

You are out-of-luck without the COA ... sorry.

I wouldn't count on 7 days, either --- I'm normally prompted in 3-4 days to validate 'or else' ...
