Hi! I'm building a new, cheap, Core2 OverClocking rig and I need help with the parts selection.
I need to keep the price under 1200$ Canadian.
I was thinking something along those lines:
-Conroe 1.8 Ghz e6300 -290$
-Gigabyte DS3 175$
-1Gb DDR2-800 OCZ XTC 200$
-Geforce 7900GS or X1900AIW 260$
-250Gb HDD 100$
-Antec Sonata II case. 130$
This brings it at about my 1200$ range but I really want to cut the price a bit.
I was reading I could cut 30$ by going with an S3 motherboard instead or pick DDR2-667 rather than the more expensive DDR2-800
Will those changes affect the modest OCing I was planning to do? I was expecting a 300-600Mhz boost.
Any other things I could do to either boost performamce or reduce price?(emphasis on the latter.)
This computer will be mainly gaming and multitasking.
